Nowadays, traveling is considered as a luxury for many people. Even so, traveling does not necessarily mean spending exorbitant amounts of cash on costly airfare and hotel accommodations. Numerous budget-friendly alternatives that you can take would still let you reach your dream destination.

  • Explore for good air, rail, coach and ship/ferry deals. The Internet gives you a very good way for you to do so.
  •  Research for good accommodation offers. Do an internet search and obtain lists of all the Hostels in the location that you have chosen to visit.
  • Find out if it is possible to stay with friends to reduce accommodation expenses. However, make sure you follow the rule if you are reserving your accommodation on the internet,
  • Book your hostel or hotel for just one night only. That way, you already have a place to stay when you arrive, but can browse around for better deals on the next day.
  • Take cash rather than Travelers cheque , unless you're visiting Europe . Carry your cash and passports in a body wallet, and never let it out of your sight.
  • Never take good jewelry along with you if you are traveling like this. The solely costly thing you need is a camera, which should be strapped to your body.
  • Take a sarong to use as a sheet, towel, wrap, nightwear, day wear, etc. If you're going to be vacationing in one location for longer than a couple of days, buy groceries. Even if the place where you are staying does not have a fridge, you can buy some fruit, vegetables, and bread at a local marketplace. This will cost you much less compared to restaurant food. When you are hungry, have a piece of fruit and some bread. If you still think you need a "real" meal, you will not have to buy, as much .
  • To save your accommodation money even further, if journeying by long-distance coach, is to book a service, which runs overnight. It may not be the most comfortable good night's sleep you will have, but you will save yourself some extra expending money at your destination.
  • Avoid eating out -- bring noodles and soup packets. This way, you can travel for as long as 6 weeks.
  • Spend your days cheaply. Walk around a lot, and visit free or cheap attractions. Use shuttle buses or other cheap public transport. You can learn a lot about a place without spending a lot of money.
