There are various compilations and countdowns are present that depicts 7 world wonders. The list is further categorized as Man-made wonders and Natural wonders. In ancient world Greek used to make a catalogue of monuments that represents greatest achievements of man. Recently there has been a countdown to determine wonders of modern world.

We all know about 7 world wonders like Taj Mahal, Giza, Colosseum, Machu Picchu, The Great Wall of China, Christ the redeemer. Maharashtra is also full of natural and man-made wonders people are still unheard of now let’s make a list and see the 7 wonders of Maharashtra.

Ajanta Caves: Ajanta caves are one of the oldest historic places in India. These caves are believed to be carved in 2 B. C. these caves used to serve as monasteries for Buddhist Monks. This great historic and cultural treasure was discovered in 1819. Ajanta caves is a series of 29 cave temples. These caves are considered as a masterpiece of Buddhist art. Ajanta caves are definitely more than worthy to be considered as one of the seven wonders of Maharashtra


Lonar Lake: Lonar Lake or Lonar Crater Lake holds significant geological and mythological importance not only for its splendid view, but also the whole mystery behind the origin of the crater. It’s geologically important because Lonar is probably worlds only impact crater formed in basaltic rock. It is believed that the crater was formed fifty two thousand years ago. A 2 million ton crater with velocity of 90,000kmph hit earth and created as hole that is 150m deep and 1.8 km wide. The crate itself named after an ‘Asura’ (demon) Lonasura.


Kas Pathar: Kas Pathar or Kas plateau is located near Satara . Kas Plateau is a valley of flower. These flowers start blooming after monsoon season. Whole valley gets covered with a blanket of spectacular flowers.  Whole valley changes its color with each passing day of the monsoon season. During the flower blooming season valley get an unusual rate of visitors, tourists and photographers. Kas Pathar is recently declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO Due to the diversity of plant species and families.



Raigadh Fort: To people in Maharashtra this place is much more than just a fort or a tourist spot. It is a sacred place among all the ‘Maharashtrians’. Fort Raigadh was a capital of Maratha Empire lead by Great Indian King Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In multiple historic references this fort described as ‘Abhedya’ unconquerable. The fort is extraordinary example, fort architecture. Thousands of people visit this fort every year to admire the architecture and pay their respects.

                          
Daulatabad Fort: Daulatabad fort was considered as the strongest and the most powerful fort in medieval India. This fort saw rule many dynasties and came under rule of multiple kings. Daulatabad fort is the world’s best preserve fort.

Global Vipassana Pagoda: Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation hall in Mumbai. This dome is an architectural wonder made with materials like basalt, sandstone. Each sand stone weight around 600kg; the spire of the pagoda is covered with real gold while rest of the pagoda is covered with gold paint. The Pagoda is world’s biggest pillar-less structure. Dome is approximately 29 meters high with a hollow dome for meditation.   


CST: Chatrapati shivaji Terminals is Historic railway station of Mumbai, India. It is declared as a world heritage site. CST is one of the busiest railway stations in the world. The Station was designed by F. W. Stevens. It took ten years to get complete and become a symbol of ‘Gothic city Mumbai’. Station blends architectural significance of both British and Indian civilization.
