Souks in Marrakesh are more or less like a maze the more you get inside more it’s difficult to get out. Not only there are number of eclectic items to buy, there is also an exceptional enthusiasm, which floods the marketplace.

 In Northern Africa and the Middle East, souk known as marketplace, and one of the best examples as well as markets surrounding Djemma el-Fna in Marrakech. These traditional North African marketplaces are admired location with the local population as well as tourist alike, because the stalls are filled with day-to-day necessary objects as well as exotic lamps.

Spend Some Time

Many people visit Marrakech for shopping and every time they share the same compliant we wish we had done more.  It’s evident for first timers the souks are intimidating and approaching a shop is almost nerve-racking, hence if you want to shop, spend the first just look around, approach couple of souks to get the feel of the bargaining process. Next day go there and let they know you mean business. Start small working up to the big-ticket items you like.      

Always carry change


Many sellers in the souks generally take all the popular currency of the world along with Moroccan dirham so keep in mind to bring small change with you. It would be extremely difficult to bargain if you don’t have the exact amount. With change, you can also add little value without costing you a lot of money. Moreover, apart from that never carry huge bills with you in an unknown location.

Watch out

The endless amount of glittering jewelry will charm you. If not distracted by that you will definitely follow your nose in search of pastries and roasting nuts.  Remember to keep an eye out; people aren’t the only ones walking through souks, motorbikes also past speeds which seem very unsafe to the outsider.

Moroccan souks are colossal, beautiful as well as confusing. Don’t get apprehensive about getting lost which is highly unlikely to happen in the age of navigational Smartphone maps.
